Security Check

According to the National and International adopted regulations carrying of liquids is restricted onboard aircraft. This regulations are preventive response to new threats in civil aviation.

This regulations brings greater security for passengers and safeguarding the civil aviation from acts of unlawful interference, prevents from terrorist attacks using liquid explosives, and ensures that security measures within the EU are unified. The regulation limits the liquids that passengers can take after security control points at airports and then onto the aircraft. It applies to all flights departing from airports in the EU, regardless of their destination or the nationality of the carrier.

These rules only apply to hand luggage. Passengers will still be allowed to carry small quantities of personal care products in their hand luggage (perfumes, creams, gels, etc.), provided that the containers or packaging do not exceed capacity of more than 100 ml and can easily be placed in transparent plastic bags (volume: one liter). Passengers must show liquids stored in this way at the security control point and submit them for security checks. Certain exceptions are permitted such as medicines and food needed during the flight, including baby food.

Additionally the rules require passengers to take off coats and jackets at security control points and to remove portable computers and larger electrical devices from their hand luggage. The regulation also specifies the maximum permitted dimensions for hand luggage (56 x 45 x 25 cm), with the possibility of certain exceptions such as for musical instruments.

PROHIBITED ARTICLES IN THE HAND BAGGAGE
Guns (replicas of guns and pistols, toy guns, imitation of weapons), knives, scissors, bats, batons, inflammable explosives materials, propane and/or butane cylinders, wired music instruments, fishing equipment, are some of the prohibited items on board.

You can carry some of these items only in your checked baggage, but you must report it to the airport check-in personnel, prior your check-in process starts. Those items will be checked by our security personnel prior the baggage is sent to the aircraft and appropriately marked, following the aviation regulations for such items.

In case you intend to transport a gun or other weapon, although you have the adequate licence/permission, you must inform our check-in personnel about it.

PROHIBITED ARTICLES IN HAND AND CHECKED BAGGAGE

Additionally, please be informed that certain items are not allowed to be transported either in hand baggage or checked baggage. Explosives, ammunition, flammable substances, fireworks, pyrotechnics, petrol’s, chemical and radioactive materials, corrosive substances, acids, aerosol sprays, mace, tear gas, matches and other dangerous items such as magnetized or irritating material are strictly forbidden for carrying on board in any way.

Pets

Passengers are requested to make all the necessary arrangements concerning the transport of pets, such as supplying appropriate documentation prior to their trip. As a rule, pets are transported in a specially provided area of the cargo hold. Airline companies usually allow small pets in the passenger cabin (such as dogs, cats, birds). A pet has to be carried in a suitable cage or basket with a waterproof bottom. Transport of pets is charged extra at the rates applicable to excess baggage. Please, contact your airline or travel agent for further details.

Firearms

When checking-in, passengers have to report any firearms, which can only be transported in a special locked compartment, under the captains authority. For further information, please contact your airline or your travel agent.

Security tips

Please do not leave your baggage unattended. Do not pack dangerous and prohibited items in your luggage, and do not carry other people luggage. No Items should be obtained from strangers, any attempt for such an activity please immediately inform the relevant personnel at the check- in counter.

Covid19: Travel Safe

-    TAV Macedonia, as an airport operator, acts in accordance with the state institutions in the countries where passengers travel, the airports border authorities and the rules and regulations of the airlines. For information on current air travel restrictions and the required documents for entrance in the intended country, please contact the related embassy and the airline that you will be travelling with.


Additionally, from September 1, 2021, domestic and foreign citizens will be able to exit the territory of the Republic of North Macedonia if at the border crossing, they enclose/present the following:
•    certificate / confirmation for immunization (vaccination) of the SARS-CoV-2 virus, i.e., received at least two doses of vaccine against the infectious disease COVID-19 (all vaccines are accepted at least 14 days after the application of the second dose); or
•    certificate / confirmation for having recovered from COVID-19 in the last 45 days, counting from the day of recovery: or
•    medical certificate with negative result from RT PCR SARS-CoV-2 test, made 72 hours before entering the territory of the Republic of North Macedonia or
•    negative result of a rapid antigen test made 48 hours before entering the territory of the Republic of North Macedonia.
This decision is not applicable for passengers younger than 18. 

 - It is mandatory for passengers to put on a face mask before entering the airport terminal building and to wear it constantly as they move through the airport, until they leave the terminal building and board a plane. Regarding the flight rules, passengers should follow the requirements of the airline with which they travel.
Passengers who do not wear a protective mask will not be allowed to enter the airport building.
 


- Despite the existence of the online registration option, due to the new Covid-19 restrictions, passengers are obliged, upon their arrival at the airport, to register at the check-in counters, to check and verify the documents required to enter the country in which they travel, as well as to check-in their luggage.
 

-    Passengers will need to follow the instructions of security agents in a disciplined manner, and there, as in all procedures where queues are expected, it will be necessary to keep a physical distance of at least 1.5 meter.

As of 19.8.2021, 21:00h entrance into the airport terminal building will be allowed only by presenting one of the following:


-    Certificate / confirmation for immunization (vaccination) of the SARSCoV-2 virus, i.e., application of at least the first dose of vaccine against the infectious disease COVID-19; or
-    Certificate / confirmation for having recovered from COVID19 in the last 45 days, counting from the day of recovery; or
-    Medical certificate with negative result from RT PCR SARSCoV-2 test, 72 hours, or rapid antigen test, 48 hours.

*This does not apply to persons under the age of 18.

Please use Departures C door to enter, and Arrivals B door to exit the airport terminal building.

-    We highly recommend to our passengers to arrive at the airport at least 3 to 4 hours before their flight. Due to new measures for protection from COVID-19, some of the airport procedures may take longer time.

    Business and VIP lounge areas are cleaned and disinfected as prescribed by public health authorities with increased frequency based on the air traffic.

    Adequate protection for staff members which includes personal protective equipment, such as gloves, medical masks, goggles or face shields.

    Information signage and floor markings to encourage physical distancing as well as multiple self-hand sanitizers, alcohol-based with adequate signage for passengers.

    All served products in the lounges will be displayed prepacked in foil therefore all guests will be able to get products as individual packs.

    Self-service options where passengers have limited contact with staff.

-  Frequent disinfection of frequently contacted surfaces.

- Separate waste bins are placed for disposal of mask and gloves.

- Tables and chairs are disinfected after being used by our guests.

- All the employees in the outlets shall wear protective equipment. Plexiglas separator has been fixed in order to avoid the contact between cashier and guests.

- At the entrance of the outlets and in the common areas, hand sanitizer units are placed.

- Through guiding signs, guests will be reminded of the physical distancing rules and rules to follow, especially for the lines at order and payment points.

- In all restaurants, the capacity has been reduced and the distance between tables has been increased. Four chairs will be put across to all tables.

- Тrays and plates will be removed from common areas, they’ll be given to guests by the service staff.

- Disposable packed products (salt, sugar, napkins, straws, stirrers) will be handed to our guests by the service staff, while the same products in disposable packages are removed from the common areas.

- For the lines at order and payment points, stickers have been posted on the floor at a distance (1.5m) suitable for social distance.

- Employees shall work using protective equipment.

- All the used equipment in the duty free that comes in contact with the customers, shall be disinfected frequently.

- Guiding signs for the prescribed physical distancing (1.5m) in the shop area for all present persons are placed.

- We encourage customers to use only contactless credit or debit card.

- Strict entrance points in shops will be placed, with an alcohol-based disinfectant liquid machine to be used prior entering the shop.

- Passengers who are not wearing a mask will not be admitted into the store.

- Not more than 10 customers will be allowed at the same time in the shops.

-    Passengers should arrive at the airport at least 3 to 4 hours before their flight, as check-in counters close at least 1 hour before departure time. This means that passengers must have completed the check-in procedures at least 1 hour before take-off, and then the Passport Control and Security Checking procedures, in order to arrive on time in the boarding area, i.e., at the Gates. It is mandatory for passengers to wear a protective mask, maintain the prescribed physical distance indoors and maintain a high level of personal hygiene.

From September 1, 2021, domestic and foreign citizens will be able to enter the territory of the Republic of North Macedonia if at the border crossing, they enclose/present the following:
•    certificate / confirmation for immunization (vaccination) of the SARS-CoV-2 virus, i.e., received at least two doses of vaccine against the infectious disease COVID-19 (all vaccines are accepted and at least 14 days after the application of the second dose); or
•    certificate / confirmation for having recovered from COVID-19 in the last 45 days, counting from the day of recovery: or
•    medical certificate with negative result from RT PCR SARS-CoV-2 test, made 72 hours before entering the territory of the Republic of North Macedonia or
•    negative result of a rapid antigen test made 48 hours before entering the territory of the Republic of North Macedonia.
For both domestic and foreign citizens who will return to the country after September 1, and do not have a negative PCR test, a negative antigen test or certificates for vaccination or certificate for being recovered from COVID-19, a quarantine measure of 7 (seven) days of home isolation will be determined with a decision of the State Sanitary and Health inspectorate. The cost of isolating for foreign nationals is at their expense.
Foreign nationals transiting through the country will be able to do so within 5 hours with a previously signed statement of entry into the country which they will have to submit before the border control at the exit from the country.
Exceptions to this measure are the aircraft crews and professional drivers of freight motor vehicles entering the border crossings on the territory of the Republic of North Macedonia, as well as all types of groups or individual trips or passengers and professional drivers of freight motor vehicles transiting through the territory of the Republic of North Macedonia, for which they must sign a Transit Declaration.

This decision is not applicable for passengers younger than 18.

There is regular shuttle bus transportation at Skopje International Airport for passengers that passes and stops at key bus stops in the City of Skopje, and arrives to the Airport, handled by the company ‘Manora’. The shuttle bus timetable is prepared according to the arrivals/departures of flights. The bus is stopping on these bus stops: Hotel “Holiday Inn”, Transportation Center, TC Biser, and Skopje International Airport. One way ticket for the shuttle bus costs MKD 180. Skopje International Airport operates 24/7. You can arrive at the Airport at any time and wait for your flight. Restaurants and cafes such as Cakes & Bakes, Burger King and NeedStop are available for the passengers at any time, business lounge (PrimeClass CIP Service) offers you comfort 24/7, while the ATU Duty Free, opened during flights operations, offers a wide range of products.  

Check-in, registration of passengers at the check-in counters for passengers and baggage starts at least 180 minutes (3 hours) prior to the scheduled time of departure, and for intercontinental flight, at least 180 minutes (3 hours) prior to the departure time indicated on your flight ticket. Closing time of the airport check-in counter is no later than 40 minutes prior to the scheduled departure time indicated on your flight ticket, and for intercontinental flight no later than 60 minutes prior to the departure time indicated on your flight ticket.

For information about your flight, please follow the airport web-site, in the Arrivals and Departures section, where all changes to the flights schedule are updated in real time, i.e. as we receive information by airlines.

Passengers are allowed to carry on board free of charge items such as coat, 1 umbrella or walking stick, 1 ladies handbag, 1 camera or binoculars, 1 baby transporter, 1 pair of crutches or similar prosthetic aids, medical equipment on which the passenger is fully dependent, a reasonable quantity of baby food.

Regarding the baggage fees amount, please contact your airline, because each airline has its own baggage policy and applicable rules.

TAV Macedonia in 2015 introduced free Wi-Fi internet at Skopje International Airport, and in 2019 it has been upgraded. Passengers can access free internet through their mobile devices by simply connecting to a wireless network called "City of Skopje", password is not required. This network is not time-limited and log-in or sign-in is not required for future connections.

Yes. At Skopje International Airport there are specially designated, marked parking lots for persons with disabilities and the car park services are free of charge. By enclosing the traffic license and the disability identification card at the Car Park Counter, located inside the terminal building, our employees will cancel the car park ticket and the disabled person will be automatically exempt from paying for the car park service. If all designated parking lots for disabled persons are occupied, park your car on a regular parking lot, and following the above stated procedure you will be exempted from paying for the car park services.

Yes. At Skopje International Airport there is a Special Assistance Service for passengers with reduced mobility (PRMs). The counter where you can ask for this free of charge service is located inside the Terminal building next to the Information Desk. Passenger with reduced mobility (PRM) means any person whose mobility is reduced due to physical incapacity (sensor or locomotor), intellectual deficiency, age, illness or other cause of disability.

Currently – no, but we are working on it. At Skopje International Airport smoking is allowed only within the open terraces of the cafeterias located in the landside of the Terminal building. Smoking is not allowed within the Terminal Building.
