This route marks also our return to Bosnia after the challenges posed by the COVID-19 pandemic, and we couldn't be more excited to reconnect with our valued passengers in this region.  As of October, passengers from Skopje will have increased connecting opportunities via Athens hub to the AEGEAN network with almost a daily flight extending our reach to destinations across Greece, Europe, and the Middle East. This development offers opportunities for travellers to explore and experience diverse destinations with the convenience and reliability at the high standards AEGEAN is known for" – stated Roland Jaggi, Chief Commercial Officer, AEGEAN.

“We are happy that after thirteen years, Sarajevo will be connected again with the capital of North Macedonia - Skopje. We are particularly pleased by the fact that the launch of this route is the result of joint and very successful cooperation between the two airports – Skopje International Airport, Sarajevo International Airport and AEGEAN, the Greek flag carrier, which recognized the importance and potential of establishing this airline as an excellent form of improving communication and strengthening cooperation in the field of economy and tourism between North Macedonia and Bosnia and Herzegovina. We believe that this line will have good performance and we are looking forward to the first flight of AEGEAN on the Skopje-Sarajevo route!" - said Alan Bajic, director of Sarajevo International Airport.

TAV Airports officials say that the addition of this new route to the route network map and portfolio of Skopje International Airport would be yet another input to the already strong positive recovery trend in air traffic figures, especially for the first half of 2023.

For the period between January – June 2023, both Macedonian airports, Skopje International Airport and Ohrid St. Paul the Apostle Airport, handled a total of 1,3 million passengers, which is an annual increase of 41% compared to 2022, while compared to 2019, the referent year in terms of passenger traffic before covid-crisis, the increase is by 15% more passengers in the first half of this year. In terms of the number of flights for this same period, a total of 10.299 flights have been handled at both airports which is a 23% annual increase.
